As a company, For Appearances Sake's mission go beyond hair and spa services. We started the year working with Studio Fredda by offering personal development seminars to our guests and staff. Summer kicked off with a successful fundraiser for Oak Park's River Forests Animal Care League shelter. By fall, expect to see more community focused events at For Appearances Sake. The Studio Fredda seminars will resume along with a variety of guest speakers from the community to continue on our quest for personal growth. For Appearances Sake is fully engaged in our commitment to the environment, we continue to collect plastic bottle caps which are used to create future Aveda packaging, send hair clippings and dryer lint to be used as buoys to remove oil from the Gulf. For Appearances Sake is now taking the next step towards environmental sustainability. For Appearances Sake will be introducing a collection of affordable vintage gifts in order to carry out the "green" credo of reduce, reuse, and recycle. Rather than throwing classic memorabilia away, FAS shares its great appreciation for the past with guests by selling gently used timeless treasures. After 90 days all remaining vintage items will be donated to the Animal Care League Second Chance Shop to make room for new items. For Appearances Sake is looking to create a Chicago style vintage shopping experience right in River Forest, with plenty of parking in the back of the building.
